Maybe you know him from Jungle 2 Jungle, Detroit Rock City, or his latest sci-fi stint, Being Human, or perhaps this is your first foray into early 21st Century child stars. Either way, can we all agree on his boyish good looks and stylish locks? I may have just crossed the creepy line, just deal with it.

Well, I’ve yet to see his new show, but he’s definitely come a long way from Mimi-Siku. Certified stud muffin for sure!

Well, if you know anything about me or my job, you’d know that WordPress was the only way to go. We were going to own that domain, host it ourselves, and it was going to look damn good. Oh, and it had to be reasonably priced too, since my sister refused to accept any early wedding gifts.

I’m not skilled in web development, so I rallied my WordPress friend Chris to help me out. I sent him the Bueno theme, told him the pages and functions we needed, and got to work on some beginner Photoshop. I designed the header, the maps and registry buttons, and the directions buttons on the maps page using the Anton and ChunkFive fonts that were already built into the theme.

The wedding party page is one of my faves. I love seeing pics of the couple’s friends and reading about their friendships. Also, it’s hard to resist any photo of Jackie dressed as Bret Michaels. Uncanny, really.

What’s that you see? An embedded Google Map for the wedding day? And can’t-miss-these directions buttons? Hells yes! I will keep brushing these shoulders off until you recognize my geeky achievements.

And last, but certainly not least, is my favorite photo on the website: Jackie and Mike’s prom picture circa 1999. It’s kinda the best thing ever.

I know this website is really simple, but we wanted to make it painfully easy and fun to navigate through. The opportunity to create something awesome for my sister and future brother was really special for me, and I’m so happy they included me in this project. I can’t wait until June 23rd, which is exactly 150 days away from today!!!

Then I saw this video, and now I’m dangerously inspired to get out there and try some sweet moves behind my handlebars! This magical gem was created by Ninian Doff, and I totally need to meet this guy. (BTW, just what kind of name is Ninian anyway? Kinda reminds of of some weird C.S. Lewis character, but who cares, he’s a total British babe and my name’s unique too.) The vid captures 50 “professional” no hands moves (deemed so by the “Official Federation of No Handed Bikes Skills”) to the tune of a Martin Brooks track. Confetti, hair blowing in the slowmo wind, cute dudes, gorgeous typography, incredible hand gestures; this video has it all!

Hard to decide, but think it’s a tie between guilty man leaving a court, Def Leppard drummer, vogue or nasty internet commenter…they’re all so good! Which is your fave?

I grew up in Ventura County (Camarillo, if you want to get specific), and my immediate family and childhood friends still reside there, so it’s easy to call that community home. However, I feel deeply connected to many neighborhoods in San Diego, and I definitely begin to miss them dearly when I’m away for any extended period of time.

This happened to me last week in Seattle. I can’t really explain it, but I’ll go ahead and try. In between work obligations, I explored Fremont vintage shops, snapped pictures of a bridge troll, drank delicious beer and visited old friends. In a nutshell, I was having a blast. But after a few (sunshine-less) days, I started to miss my tiny apartment, favorite local restaurants, familiar faces, and usual stomping grounds. I was missing home.

California is so awesome, and I feel lucky to have grown up here. Yes, the weather is fab, but there is so much more. There’s the ability to drive from the ocean to snow in just an hour, the laid back mentality coupled with people hungry to make their wildest dreams come true, a culture that supports creative ideas, and lovely communities for families or friendships. There’s a variety of small and big industries, plenty of natural wonders to explore and lots of fun stuff happening everywhere you look. See, awesome.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love traveling and would consider moving to any state (or country!) in the future if the opportunity was right. I’m sure I could easily find a new sandwich shop like Rubicon Deli (okay, maybe not), meet new friends in an unfamiliar city and get inspired in different ways, but guess I was just pleasantly surprised to find myself longing for California after a few days away. Perhaps it was the lack of sun, burritos and good friends, but for now, I’m back home in San Diego, and it feels great.

However, I’m hoping to avoid another epic bike crash that resulted in these wounds! Note to self: be a bit more careful when you’re flying down hills on a foreign single speed in an unfamiliar city!
